Dear Harrington Family,
On March 10th, 2015 your son and brother Albert Avery Harrington joined our forces of YPG fighting for the freedom of Northern Syria. Albert adapted his new name Cekdar Rojava / Neshro Hiro and participated actively in the war against the terrorist organization ISIS, the enemy of all humanity.
We have been honored by Albert’s participation with our forces; it has built on our own essential desire for freedom. Despite the geographical distance between us, we found common values in the interest of the humanity.
It is obvious that any mistreatment of humanity, no matter where in the world, can be a threat to each of us. Therefore, a great responsibility against the threat on the free future of our children lies ahead of us. The growth of solidarity between us and the coming together around common feelings and thoughts is the most important prove of this responsibility.
Albert was not only a fighter providing additional force to our struggle. Indeed, with his experience and knowledge he has been an example for younger fighters. While he has reached a vast amount of achievement up in our front lines, Albert has served the purpose of a very important bridge between the U.S and the people of Northern Syria. He crossed continents for the destiny of our people and for humanity.
Such brave hearts as that Albert’s strengthens our belief in a future were we all can live together through our differences. Albert joined actively in our offensive against the terror threat that ISIS caused upon Northern Syria. During the last two months Albert took active part with YPG and with the Syriac Military Council (MFS) forces in the operation Wrath of the Euphrates to liberate Raqqa city. Here, on the morning of January 18th, 2017, one group of MFS was attacked by two VBIEDs in Suwaydiya-Saghirah village — Raqqa. This attack resulted in the martyrdom of three of our fighters and the injury of Albert and other two freedom fighters. On January 25th, 2017 we lost our brave companion Albert due to his injuries.
The respected Harrington Family lost their beloved son and brother; and we, the YPG – MFS lost our daring and courageous companion. Our loss has affected us deeply. We, the YPG and MFS offer our deep condolence, firstly to you Harrington Family, as well as all close relatives and honorable people of the United States.
As his companions we promise to live his remembrance in all our memories.
